1Mary Trowbridge Elkins, GENEALOGY OF THE SOLOMON FITZHUGH LINE IN OREGON.
We owe the most to Charles Fitzhugh, Solomon’s grandson, who kept the list of generations given to him by Solomon’s daughter Nancy Katherine (Fitzhugh) Martindale in 1916 or the next year. And, also, to Walter Guy Lane who after many years of research in tracing the history of the family which he gave us had some of the generations of our branch of Fitzhughs on his list. Both helped with the facts about Solomon, and Charles aided in the lists of the descendants of Solomon Fitzhugh. Phebe Culver had interesting historical information, as well as listed the Culvers for us. Those others that helped greatly were: Garth Fitzhugh, Mrs. Florence McIntee, Mr. and Mrs. William Story Martindale, Mrs. James (Welcome) Comb, Mrs. Daisy Doyle (Mary Evelyn Edgmon’s mother), Mrs. Rose Centers, Mrs. Nancy Myers (Solomon’s granddaughter), Mrs. Mary Moody, Mr. and Mrs. George Fitzhugh. The Fitzhugh name is one of the oldest in England. The first records of it start with Fitzhugh Baronial line.".
